The DT2 8DN postcode will take you to the Chaldon Herring (East Chaldon) village green. From the green, head eastwards towards Winfrith for about 1/4 mile, then turn right up the gravel track by the village sign, the open limit speed signs and the blue 'P' sign. Continue on uphill passing  New Close Bungalow.

The road between Bere Regis and Wool passes Monkey World and is the easiest route from the north and north-east. We recommend the following routes:

From Blandford Forum A354

From the Blandford by-pass follow the A354 towards Dorchester. After 3.5 miles turn left onto the minor road signed to Bere Regis via Winterbourne Kingston, then turn right with caution onto the A31. Continue as next:

From Wimborne A31

Follow the A31 to where it meets the A35 from Poole to Dorchester at the roundabout by the filling station just before Bere Regis. Take the first exit left to Bere Regis. At the next roundabout, a few hundred yards, take the second exit through Bere Regis towards Monkey World and Wool. Pass Monkey World and join the A352 at the next roundabout. Take the second exit to Wool and cross the level crossing and turn right following the Dorchester signs. Continue as next:

From Wareham, Wool, Weymouth and Dorchester

Continue towards Winfrith Newburgh on the A352. Turn south by the Red Lion pub into Water Lane and drive through Winfrith village, passing the General Stores and Post Office. At the sharp left bend by the Church, cross with caution into the lane straight ahead, signposted to East and West Chaldon. Continue along the lane for a further 3/4 mile to the 30 mph, 'P' and Chaldon Herring (East Chaldon) village signs. Stop! Continue from 'The access bridleway' below:

From Lulworth Cove

Take the road signposted to Winfrith Newburgh. After about three miles enter Winfrith. At the very sharp right-hand bend turn left into the lane to East and West Chaldon. Continue along the lane for a further 3/4 mile to the 30 mph, 'P' and Chaldon Herring (East Chaldon) village signs. Stop! Continue from 'The access bridleway' below:
